『Gogatu Ningyo』 serve as 「amulets」 that take the place of children to ward off misfortune.
『Gogatu Ningyo』is a quintessential part of Japanese culture, where armor, helmets, and other items are displayed on Children’s Day (May 5) to pray for the healthy growth of boys and to ward off evil.
In addition to the armor and helmets, we also displayed a hanging scroll of ukiyo-e known as 『Mushae』depicting historical warlords, legendary heroes, and battle scenes.
The figure on the left is 『Shingen Takeda』 and the one on the right is 『Kenshin Uesugi』. Both are renowned warlords who represent Japan.
The instruction manual has been carefully preserved for 34 years, and I am truly delighted that we were able to display them safely in our home this year!!
I hope to be as strong and resilient as these precious 『Gogatu Ningyo』and 『Mushae』 paintings, and to continue striving diligently in all I do.
And, just like our precious family heirloom, the 『Hina Ningyo』, we will continue to cherish them.
