When I was 19 years old—15 years ago now—I began studying “Shinto Muso-ryu Jodo,” a martial art using a staff, under Master Kuniyuki Kai.
During my time as a live-in disciple, Master Kai used a sword (bokuto) and I used a staff, and together we were able to perform demonstrations in front of many people.
In addition, there are martial arts schools said to have been transmitted alongside “Shinto Muso-ryu Jodo,” and I was able to inherit four other schools, along with their certifications and disciplines, from Master Kuniyuki Kai, as listed below.
・“Shinto Muso-ryu Jodo”: Menkyo Kaiden / Staff
(Concurrently Transmitted Martial Arts)
・“ Isshin-ryu Kusarigamajutsu”: Menkyo Kaiden /Kusarigama
・“ Kasumi Shinto-ryu Kenjutsu”: Menkyo / Sword
・“ Uchida-ryu Tanjojutsu” : Menkyo / Short Staff
・“Ikkaku-ryu Juttejutsu” : Menkyo / Jutte, Iron Fan
I would like to express my deepest gratitude to Master Kuniyuki Kai for passing down so many certificates and scrolls to me, and for nurturing me by working up a sweat alongside me during our daily practice, training, and demonstrations.
I will continue to enhance my overall abilities and hone my skills.
